Drag Race star Katya puts work on hold after ‘medical complications’

Drag superstar Katya Zamolodchikova has put upcoming projects and live events on hold following recent “medical complications”.

A statement was issued to The RuPaul’s Drag Race alum’s Instagram account last night (16 September) on her behalf.

“Katya will be taking time away from upcoming projects and live events so she can prioritise her health following recent medical complications. A full recovery is anticipated,” the note reads.

“With the support of her family, her team, and Trixie, she appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding during this time. Her fans have always been so gracious, and that means everything to her,” it continued.

“For upcoming live events, ticket holders will receive additional details regarding their options shortly.” The comments section has been turned off.

Katya’s main upcoming commitments were the Trixie Mattel & Katya The Bald and the Beautiful Live: Very Bald, Very Beautiful tour dates, which include:

Although the official reason for the break has not been disclosed, some fans have speculated that Katya may have relapsed.

The drag star has spoken publicly for years about addiction and recovery, which began before she appeared on season seve of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

She publicly announced that she was entering rehab in 2024 to address her longstanding addiction to alcohol and drugs, postponing that year’s Bald and the Beautiful live tour.
