Britney Spears has entered a rehabilitation facility following her March 2026 arrest in Ventura County, California, for driving under the influence.

Spears was arrested for DUI on 4 March by California Highway Patrol officers, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Office records.

She was released in the early hours of the following morning (5 March) and is due in court on 4 May.

“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law” – Britney Spears’s representative confirming her rehabilitation

In light of her arrest and public concern, Spears has voluntarily begun treatment at a rehabilitation centre, confirmed by a representative.

In a statement obtained by People, the representative said: “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.”

“Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” Spears’s spokesperson continued.

“Her boys are going to be spending time with her” – Spears’s representative on the singer’s recovery

“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success and wellbeing.”

Following her arrest, Spears shared moments with her two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, on social media in late March.

She wrote on Instagram: “Thank you guys for all your support… spending time with family and friends is such a blessing.”

What did Kevin Federline say about Spears?

The reunion marks a rare occasion for the Spears family following a turbulent relationship with her sons, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The DJ was married to the ‘Gimme More’ singer from 2004 to 2007 and has made numerous claims against the musician.

In his memoir, Thought You Knew, Federline claimed his then-teenage sons were scared to stay at their mother’s house.

Does Spears have a relationship with her two sons?

Following the pair’s divorce, they were involved in a public battle over custody of their two sons, with Spears losing custody in 2008 due to substance abuse issues.

Spears has recently spoken out against her ex-husband, writing under a photo of her appearing on SNL in 2000-2002: “Remember me when I used to be in show business before my marriage.”

In light of her 2026 arrest, previous similar legal issues have also come to light. In August 2007, she hit a parked car in Los Angeles. The charges were dropped after she paid for the damages and turned herself in.
