Jake Shears, Scissor Sisters frontman and musical headliner at this year’s Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, powered by Jaguar, has opened up about his new acting role in the upcoming queer kink film Pillion.

The film, which stars Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Potter actor Harry Melling, explores a sub/dom biker dynamic exploring leather and BDSM culture.

Speaking exclusively to Attitude, Shears said: “I play like a sub bottom boy who’s in a long-term relationship. I’m sort of in the scene that the movie takes place in, and I’ve been around for a lot longer than Harry Leyton’s character. So there’s a little bit of rivalry, a little bit of jealousy.”

He admitted he hasn’t yet seen the finished film but is thrilled by the early reactions. “I haven’t seen it yet, no,” he said. “But I’m so excited that people are liking it.”

“I think I’ve always been pretty sexually adventurous” – Jake Shears on his role in the upcoming Pillion film

Discussing his experience on set, Shears added: “I think I’ve always been pretty sexually adventurous. It was such a wicked experience though. I had a really good time.”

He confessed that the acting itself proved to be more challenging than the intimate scenes. “The acting was like – I had to work at it, it doesn’t come naturally to me. So you’ve got to work really hard at it,” he explained.

Speaking about the more racy moments of the film, Shears laughed: “The sex stuff was fine. The sex was like whatever – but awesome.”

The film is set to be released in UK cinemas on 28 November and will also screen at the London Film Festival this month.
