Someone once said: ‘Podcasts are like children, they’re easy to make and not everyone should have one.’ We don’t know where we heard that, but it’s hilarious and also completely true.

However, there are some LGBTQ podcasts that we are so grateful we have in our lives. Whether they’re making us laugh, cry, or think these podcasts are brilliant examples of when the medium is done right.

We’ve chosen 15 but it goes without saying that there are so many more out in the ether than we’ve got here. Tune in!

Queer Talk

The Heartstopper of the podcast world, we love Queer Talk because of their focus on positive and uplifting stories from the LGBTQ community. Sure, there are plenty of serious moments throughout, but hosts Mufseen and Spencer keep things upbeat and energetic. While on hiatus at the moment, there are three seasons of this fantastic podcast to catch up on!

Iris Prize Podcast

A brand new podcast from the Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival, this podcast hosted by writer and broadcaster, Damian Kerlin, is a valuable resource for aspiring filmmakers and storytellers. Offering unique insights the podcast hears from Iris Prize alumni and past winners, industry specialists, journalists, and other creatives working in the field of LGBTQ+ filmmaking.

Historical Homos

The no-f***s-given guide to LGBTQ+ history. Welcome to the Gayest Stories Never Told! Hosted by Bash and Donal Brophy and produced by Heroes actor, Zachary Quinto. This relatively new podcast is both informative and entertaining. We’re hooked!

Las Culturalistas

Culture consultants, Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang take a look at the cultural zeitgeist in this entertaining podcast. With an amazing array of guests, the pair really get into the hottest pop-culture moments of the day as well as the experiences that made them the Las Culturistas.

Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness

We can’t imagine a world where we’re not in love with Jonathan Van Ness (JVN). The Queer Eye host brings his infectious warmth and spirit to his podcast where he quizzes experts on subjects he’s curious about. Covering topics such as recycling and sustainability, humanity’s obsession with dogs, fatphobia, and more, JVN’s podcast is informative at its core and wrapped in a lot of fun.

Inside the Closet

This podcast, hosted by gay comedians, Matteo Lane and Emma Willmann, is one of those podcasts where you feel like you’re sitting there listening to two very good friends chatting about absolutely nothing. And it’s amazing! Hilarious to the end this podcast is a good time and we’ll be taking no more questions at this time.

Out with Suzi Ruffell

“A podcast all about the inspiring lives of LGBTQIA+ people,” British comedian Suzi Ruffell’s podcast is one that could have you welling up as much as it can have you chuckling along. With guests including Ben Aldridge, Drag Race UK‘s Victoria Scone, Jake Graf, and also Attitude’s very own Darren Styles, Suzi’s podcast is the uplifting one you’re looking for.

The Log Books

Documenting the history of the LGBT helpline, Switchboard is the aim of this history podcast. Presented by writer Adam Zmith and Switchboard’s Tash Walker The Log Books takes a look at the notes left by the charity’s volunteer call handlers since the charity began in 1974. Recounting the good and bad moments in the lives of those who have used the charity, the podcast also speaks to contributors about their memories as well.

A Gay and a Non Gay

Attitude’s own James Barr and his ‘non gay’ friend, Dan Hudson examine everyday topics and conversations, such as homophobia, coming out, mental health, as well as dating, and sex. Serious and funny – it’s the best of both and we love these two together. We feel like we’re there with them when we listen.

Dyking Out – a Lesbian and LGBTQIA Podcast for Everyone!

New York City-based comedians Carolyn Bergier & Melody Kamali present Dyking Out, a podcast about lesbian and queer life, news, as well as pop culture. The pair also bring in special guests every week from across the community to discuss a topic from the queer world.

Black and Gay, Back in the Day

Previous Attitude Pride Award winner Marc Thompson leads this podcast bringing to life a photo archive of Black LGBTQIA+ life in Britain, from the 1970s through to the early 2000s. In each episode, Marc focuses on a different photograph from the archive connecting our past and present. The eye-opening podcast includes open discussions about racism, homophobia, transphobia, and sexual discrimination.

Like Minded Friends (Suzi and Tom Allen)

Tom Allen and Suzi Ruffell are our like-minded friends. Here, they discuss life, love, and culture as well as a heap of other things. Of course, they do it all with their characteristic humour and wit. Pop the kettle, get some biscuits, settle down and enjoy!

Homo Sapiens

Chris Sweeney takes a look at the world from a Queer perspective. Guests have so far included Dannii Minogue, Juno Dawson, and Rina Sawayama with many more conversations, stories, and good old laughs with LGBTQ icons, allies, and listeners.

Bad Gays

A podcast about evil and complicated queers in history. Why do we remember our heroes better than our villains? Hosted by Huw Lemmey and Ben Miller.

FromGayToZe
