EastEnders wins Attitude’s Media Recognition Award

stars Danny Dyer and Sam Strike have won the Media Recognition Award, supported by Naked Wines, at the Attitude Awards 2014.
The actors, who play father and son Mick and Johnny Carter on the BBC One soap, were at the centre of one of the year’s most heartwarming gay storylines when Johnny came out to his father back in January.
Speaking to Attitude earlier this year, Dyer revealed that the reaction to the storyline from members of the public has been remarkably positive, saying: “I’m getting wave after wave of it. They’re all saying they came out and it was the most liberating thing.”
Dyer and Strike were presented with their award by former EastEnders star Michelle Collins at tonight’s ceremony at Banqueting House in Whitehall, London, which is being hosted by Scissor Sisters star Ana Matronic.
