Relive Drag Race UK star Matt Lister’s Attitude cover shoot (PICS)

The Brit Crew member and Attitude columnist proved hirsute is H-O-T back in 2016.

By Will Stroude

For a man who’s yet to hit 28, Matt Lister really has quite the resume.

The former British slalom canoeist competed at the international level from 2008 to 2015 – coming out publicly in 2012 – and while might have left the world of competitive sport behind, he’s since turned his hand to modelling, writing Attitude’s fitness column, working as an LGBT ambassador for the British Athletes Commission and, most recently, appearing as a member of the ‘Brit Crew’ on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.

Matt, who this week appears in a special Christmas edition of ‘Slay or Nay’ – or more appropriately, ‘Sleigh or Nay’, also graced the cover of Attitude back in 2016, where he opened up about his years spent in the closet and how he learnt to love his naturally hairy body.

Revealing how after years of feeling self-conscious about his hirsute frame as a teen, he decided to ditch the razor and embrace his body hair in all its glory, he told us: “I was fine with all my hair making me look older than my friends, but wished my hairy back would go away”,

“I asked for laser-hair removal for my birthday – a present I never got, thank goodness. I hope I can inspire others to just ‘let it grow’. It’s way more fun.”

We couldn’t agree more, Matt. And in honour of your recent exploits on Drag Race, here’s a trip down memory lane in the form of your Attitude cover shoot…
