Paul Smith Changes it Up for A/W’16

By Umar Sarwar

Autumn/winter ’16 is the season of change for Paul Smith when all fourteen collections become just two: Paul Smith and the new PS by Paul Smith.

The new collection, PS by Paul Smith, embodies a brand new attitude. The collection showcases confident but considerably designed casual pieces, with accessible price points. Silhouettes are simple and clean with interest added in accents of bright colour, graphic prints and a confident use of the new logo, designed by London based artist Fergus Purcell. Undoubtedly, the signature elements of Paul Smith are still present; so expect to see bold colour, print, and sharp tailoring.

A new circular logo features on ready-to-wear shoes and accessories for both men and women, with the brands initials in black and white.

Varied selections of denim, knitwear, jersey and outerwear are offered in plentiful supply. Yet, undoubtedly outerwear and denim are the prominent focus, presenting a finely tuned choice of washes and well-defined fits, with prime importance placed on functionality and utilitarian shapes. Complimenting this, accessories are simple and immediate, echoing the palette with jewel-tones of burgundy, olive green and orange.

The Autumn/Winter ’16 pre-collection will be available from May in dedicated PS by Paul Smith shops, as well as the top retailers. The main collection will be available from August.
