John Prescott shares “awkward” Nicky Morgan equality tweet response
By Ryan Love

Former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott couldn’t resist poking fun at the reaction to a tweet from Minister for Women and Equalities, Nicky Morgan.
Reacting to Ireland’s historic referendum result, which saw gay marriage receive strong backing across the country, Morgan was among the politicans who sent congratulatory tweets on social media.
However, Twitter was quick to react, with many highlighting Morgan’s history of voting against equal marriage in England and Wales.
Prescott shared a screenshot of one response, captioning the image “#Awkward”.

Many others questioned the message, with one user asking: “Are you not a hypocrite?”
Prime Minister David Cameron also tweeted: “Congratulations to the people of Ireland, after voting for same-sex marriage, making clear you are equal if you are straight or gay.”
