Ella Henderson has scored her first UK Number One single.

The former X Factor contestant’s debut single Ghost debuts at Number One on the Official Singles Chart today (June 15), becoming the fourth fastest-selling single of the year so far with first week downloads exceeding 132,000 copies.

Henderson, who is 18 and hails from Lincolnshire, co-wrote the track with Ryan Tedder, the frontman of OneRepublic and producer behind hits including Leona Lewis’s Bleeding Love and Beyonce’s Halo.

“It feels incredible,” Ella told OfficialCharts.com. “I just can’t believe it! I’ve taken my time away, writing, and coming back into it with all this support is amazing.”

Meanwhile, Little Mix climb from 24 to six with Salute following an impressive performance on the Britain’s Got Talent final last weekend – but Jennifer Lopez has to settle for a disappointing number 63 debut for her new single First Love.
