Watch: Man’s amazing secret proposal with choir and song

By Will Stroude

There’s nothing we love more than a good ‘ole proposal video – and one Colorado man has set the bar for original ways to pop the question seriously high.

Braeden Ayre’s proposal to his boyfriend Ryan was weeks in the making, after he composed an original love song dedicated to his partner, and then slipped it into their local gay choir’s rehearsal schedule – without Ryan or the choir having any idea what it was for.

The choir spent weeks rehearsing the number, and after telling the rest of the group his intentions the day before, Braedan took Ryan to one side during a performance to reveal it was about him and ask him to be his husband.

The music teacher told HuffPost: “I wanted it to be something that only I could give him. The one thing I knew I could do was write something from my heart, and even if it wasn’t the “best song in the world”, it would be an honest expression of all the reasons I want to spend the rest of my life with him.

“Now it’s something we’ll have forever.”

Ryan (who said yes!) added: “Most couples have their “song” that is special to them, but we have one that is unique to us. One that is really truly ours.”

If anyone needs us we’ll be spooning a litre of ice cream into our as-yet-unmarried mouth.
