WATCH: Gus Kenworthy’s revealing Youtube interview

Social media personality and hairstylist Kyle Krieger has probed gay Olympic free skier Gus Kenworthy in a cheeky online interview while giving the athlete a rather dapper looking haircut.
Published to Youtube, Krieger is quick off the mark with his line of questions, first asking the 24-year-old about silver medal win at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, before throwing Kenworthy off balance by inquiring if he was circumcised.
“I was waiting for that question. I’m uncut, I was born in the UK,” said Kenworthy.
During the flirty chat, Kenworthy also spoke at length about the impact of his recent ESPN magazine cover, which profiled his coming out story, and his desire to “push the world and sports especially to a place where it isn’t a big deal to come out.”
“I don’t really think it should be newsworthy, I don’t think it should warrant a cover. But I just think it’s sort of so shocking and unsuspecting, that it is kind of news. I don’t really think that should be the case.”
Kenworthy said he never have a role model when I was a kid, and had there been an openly gay figure for him at the time, he would have had someone to look up to.
“I think it would have helped me a lot.’
For young people still struggling with their sexuality, Kenworthy said “people that can’t accept it or don’t embrace it are kind of people you don’t really want in your life anyway”.
“It’s a hard fact to learn, but I think you’ll be blown away by the amount of people that do support you. And I really think you don’t need the ones that don’t.”
He also revealed Caitlyn Jenner had been one of his key inspirations across his coming out journey. “Caitlyn Jenner’s story definitely had a big impact on me,” he said.
“I remember there was a point where I was already thinking about coming put and then I saw that and I was like, ‘holy shit, if she can do that with the world watching in way more of an amplified way than my life, that was definitely encouraging for me.”
