Tunisian man arrested after reporting he was gang-raped and robbed by four men
The man was forced to undertake an anal examination to determine whether he was gay

A man has allegedly been arrested under anti-gay laws in Tunisia after reporting he was gang-raped and robbed.
The man, known as Anas, went to a police station last month in Tunisia and told officers he was gang-raped and robbed by a group of men he met online.
Police detained him and sent him to hospital where he underwent a forced anal examination to determine where he was gay, the Human Rights Watch reported.
Anas was allegedly lured by two men into meeting him after speaking on Facebook. They raped him and stole his phone and jacket.
However, Anas’ attackers have walked free and the victim has been in prison ever since.
Now, LGBT+ activists have launched a petition calling on the Prime Minister, Youssef Chahed, to release him.
It reads: “He is constantly harassed and attacked by his fellow inmates and he’s on the verge of a nervous breakdown.”
Anas will face a court today (February 11) on charges of homosexuality. Under Article 230 of the penal code, homosexual conduct is punishable with up to three years in prison.
