The Overtones’ Timmy Matley died falling from balcony after taking crystal meth, coroner confirms
The singer, who had previously been diagnosed with stage three melanoma, died in April this year.

The Overtones’ Timmy Matley died after falling from a 13th floor balcony after taking crystal meth, a coroner has confirmed.
The singer, 36, died at the scene after falling from the flat in Poplar, east London at 11am on April 9 this year.
Matley, who formed one-fifth of The Overtones’ and was one of three openly gay members, took time away from the band in 2016 being diagnosed with stage three melanoma, later rejoining in 2017 after undergoing treatment.
Despite many speculating that cancer had been the cause of his death, Poplar Coroner’s Court confirmed to Mirror Online that the singer died in a “drug-related incident”.
The inquest held last month heard that Matley had arrived at a friend’s flat while “intoxicated with crystal meth” beofre locking himself out on the blacony, The Daily Mail reports.
The musisican attempted to climb down before falling. His cause of death was listed as multiple traumatic injuries.
The Overtones said: “We will not be making any comment other than to say that Timmy, our funny, talented, beautiful friend was dearly loved and he is deeply missed.”
Matley had been set to complete a skydive the month after his death to raise money for the hospital where he had been receiving treatment for his cancer.
