Sinead O’Connor ‘receiving medical assistance’ after overdose Facebook post

Sinead O’Conner is reportedly “safe and well” and receiving medical assistance after a message saying she had taken an overdose was posted to her Facebook page yesterday (November 29).

The 48-year-old singer sparked fears for her welfare after the concerning message appeared at around 4.15pm yesterday afternoon, in which it was claimed she had taken an overdose at an unnamed hotel in Ireland following a week of “appalling cruelty” from her family.

“The last two nights finished me off. I have taken an overdose,” the message read. “There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I’m at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name.

If I wasn’t posting this, my kids and family wouldn’t even find out.Was dead for another fortnight since none of them bother their hole with me for a minute. I could have been dead here for weeks already and they’d never have known.”

The post continued: “My children don’t care if I live r [sic] die anyway. Neither do their dads.”

Police were quickly alerted to the message and Gardaí at Pearse St station in Dublin has since confirmed to the Irish Examiner that O’Connor has been located “safe and sound” and is receiving medical assistance.

O’Connor, who has four children, underwent a hysterectomy in August after being diagnosed with am unspecified “life-threatening illness”. She had cancelled all her 2015 shows the month before in order to care for one of her sons, who was also suffering from serious health issues.
