‘Schitt’s Creek’ fans donate more than $20,000 to LGBT charity to celebrate co-creator Dan Levy’s birthday

Fans of the hit comedy Schitt’s Creek have donated more than $20,000 for an LGBTQ youth support to celebrate co-creator Dan Levy’s birthday.
The openly gay actor created the Canadian comedy series with his father, Eugene Levy, and the show has been praised for its portrayal of the pansexual character, David Rose – played by Dan – and the way his sexuality has been accepted.
As the actor turned 36 last week, he took to social media to post about a fundraiser for Ontario’s LGBT Youth Line – a charity that supports struggling LGBT youth.
And on Saturday, Levy took to social media to thank those who donated to the charity and helping him raise more than $20,000.
He said: “You are changing lives, you are saving lives and you are helping young people in crisis.
“This was a birthday present I could have never imagined and it will go down as one of the greatest gifts I have ever been given, and I can’t thank you enough for your empathy and your generosity.”
