Nicole Kidman’s ‘Grace of Monaco’ to open Cannes 2014

will open this year’s Cannes Film Festival, it has been announced.

The Grace Kelly biopic – which stars Nicole Kidman in the title role – has suffered from numerous delays as a result of an ongoing dispute between director Oliver Dahan and Harvey Weinstein.

The film was originally scheduled for release in November 2013, before being delayed until March 2014. However, the film will now debut on the opening night of the annual festival on May 14.

The film focuses on Kelly’s life after marrying Prince Rainer III of Monaco and her dilemma over a possible return to acting.

Grace of Monaco also stars Frank Langella, Tim Roth, Parker Posey, Paz Vega, Milo Ventimiglia and Sir Derek Jacobi.

The film will also be released in France and other worldwide cities on May 14.
