Neighbours star gets his kit off for cancer research

By Troy Nankervis

We at Attitude HQ know everybody needs good Neighbours and Ramsay Street’s Travis Burns is no exception.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the iconic Aussie soap, the 24-year-old actor who plays Tyler Brennan has stripped off in a Cosmo magazine centrefold to raise awareness for cancer research.

With testicular cancer the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer for men throughout their twenties, Burns told Cosmo that raising awareness for cancer was important because his grandfather had battled prostate cancer for 10 years.

“The more people know about it the better, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” he said.

“This is my first time doing a shoot like this, so there are a few nerves. But I try to keep fit anyway for pool scenes in Neighbours, so it’s not too daunting. I have one tattoo with my birth year, 1991, on it.

“Luckily my character is a bit of a bad boy, so I don’t have to cover it up. That can take hours – especially if you’re filming in the water!

While Burns said it was easy to be self critical, he added he was happy with how he looked on screen.

“I’m happy with the way I look because this is what I’ve been given. Staying healthy, eating right and going to the gym makes me feel good.”
