By Josh Haggis

A member of The Queen’s Household Cavalry has made a formal complaint after he allegedly suffered years of homophobic abuse.

The soldier – who asked not to be named – has claimed that he was bullied by a senior colleague over his sexuality for a number of years, according to The Mail On Sunday.

The senior colleague in question has denied any wrongdoing and will remain on-duty while an investigation into the allegations takes place.

“Any allegation of bullying is treated extremely seriously. Anyone found responsible can expect to be dealt with severely,” an Army spokesperson said in a statement.

The alleged victim is reportedly “devastated” about the impact his accusation going public could have on his career, saying: “I want to get on with my career and keep my private life private.”
