McConaughey, Leto win at Critics’ Choice Awards

‘s awards season success continued last night at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto scooped the prizes for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively at the Los Angeles ceremony on Thursday night (January 16).
McConaughey stars as Ron Woodroof, a real-life Texas electrician who is told that he is HIV-positive and only has one month to live, while Leto stars as transgender AIDS activist Rayon.
Both actors were victorious at the Golden Globes on Sunday (January 12), and were included in yesterday’s Oscar nominations.
Meanwhile, 12 Years a Slave took home three prizes at the Critics’ Choice Awards, including Best Picture. Lupita Nyong’o won Best Supporting Actress and John Ridley won Best Adapted Screenplay.
Cate Blanchett won Best Actress for her performance in Blue Jasmine and Adele Exarchopoulos (Blue Is The Warmest Colour) won Best Young Actor/Actress.
American Hustle took home trophies for Best Acting Ensemble and Best Comedy, and Alfonso Cuarón won Best Director for Gravity.
