Justin Trudeau demonstrated his LGBTQ allyship once again this weekend after visiting a Vancouver gay bar to mark Pride.

The Canadian prime minister, who is believed to be the country’s first leader to make an official visit to an LGBTQ bar, shook hands and posed for pictures with punters as he visited The Fountainhead Pub on Tuesday (30 July).

Sharing pictures of the visit on Twitter, former Attitude cover star Trudeau wrote: “Vancouver is gearing up for #Pride weekend right now, but the spirit of pride and inclusivity is strong here all year long!

“Thanks to the folks at @fountainheadVAN for the warm welcome today.”

Since taking office in 2015, Trudeau has regularly marched in Canadian Pride parades, becoming the country’s first leader to do so in Toronto in 2016.
