Group of lads call two other diners ‘rug munchers’ – the restaurant’s response is epic

By Will Stroude

Homophobes be warned: Do not mess with The Beaufort bar and restaurant in Melbourne, Australia.

The restaurant has hit the headlines after delivering an epic response to a group of laddy food bloggers who posted a ‘racist and homophobic’ review on Instagram, in which they referred to two female patrons as “bean eating rug-munchers” and described one as a “bloke”.

The group of four reviewers, who go by the collective name ‘Burger Bunday’, enjoyed a meal at The Beaufort in the Melbourne suburb of Carlton before posting a lengthy review online in which they made personal comments about the pair.

However, they probably weren’t expecting the restaurant itself to leap to the women’s defence, and brand them all “c**ts” in a brilliantly no-holds-barred tirade which has since made headlines around the world. Have a read below – the language is NSFW, but The Beaufort’s dressing down is oh-so-satisfying:

After the epic response was picked up by the Brown Cardigan blog, The Beaufort posted again, reminding that boys that this time, they “fucked with the wrong ‘lesbian’.” The Burger Bunday boys have since deleted their Instagram account entirely.

“Fried dicks are on us”, The Beaufort added.

The incredible take down was posted by the restaurant’s owner, Dave Kerr, who told the Daily Mail Australia that while he wasn’t in the restaurant at the same time as the boys, the women they were referring to were likely to be regulars or friends.

“I took it pretty personally,” he said. “I just gave them the full breadth of my hatred for them in narrative form.”

He added that the pub’s suburb of Carlton in Melbourne is a highly diverse area, with people from “all walks of life”.

“Homophobes kind of stand out and I think it’s an important display of hospitality to defend our customers,” he said.

“As I trawled back through their posts that evening, I felt pretty vindicated in my response.

“It wasn’t isolated for these guys and I’m happy to see they’ve taken the move to delete their account altogether.”
