Collins: ‘Two men dancing on ‘Strictly’ isn’t deviant and sexual’

Marcus Collins has hit back at critics who insist two men shouldn’t be allowed to dance together on Strictly Come Dancing.
The X Factor singer, who is currently dating Strictly professional Robin Windsor, argued that all types of dancing pairs – male-female, male-male, female-male – should be welcomed on the BBC’s hit ballroom contest.
“Dancing’s an expression. It’s expressing yourself and having the freedom to do that,” Collins told our friends at Digital Spy. “Nobody should be there ticking boxes, saying yes [or] no and whether it should be allowed.”
He then said of critics of same-sex pairings on the show: “These people are not even embarrassed to stand up and say, ‘I don’t like two men dancing together, I don’t like two women dancing together’. [But] it’s charming. It doesn’t have to be a deviant, sexual, horrible thing, and I don’t know why people are blowing it out of proportion.”
“I understand that in the public’s perception those dances are supposed to be a man and a woman,” Collins added. “[But] it’s only a matter of time before enough people speak up and it’s gonna be changed. History speaks for itself.”
