Christian dating website ‘ChristianMingle’ will no long block same-sex matches
Online dating website ChristianMingle will no longer ban same-sex matches.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the owner of the site has agreed to let same-sex users search for matches under a judge-approved settlement on discrimination claims.
ChristianMingle is known as the largest online community for Christian singles and upon registration required users to state whether they’re a man seeking a woman or a woman seeking a man.
Two gay men sued Spark Networks Inc. who own ChristianMingle and many more because they said the “limited options” violated California’s anti-discrimination law.
Known as the Unruh Civil Rights Act, the law requires business establishments to offer full and equal accommodations, facilities and more regardless of sexual orientation.
The site now asks new users whether they’re a man or a woman and Spark Networks Inc. has stated they will make it simpler for LGBT people to search for matches.
