Caitlyn Jenner: ‘It was easy to come out as transgender, harder to come out as a Republican’

By Fabio Crispim

Caitlyn Jenner made an appearance at an LGBT-focused American Unity Fund event during the  Republican National Convention yesterday (July 20) and said that coming out as a Republican was “harder” than coming out as transgender.

According to Gay Star News, the I Am Cait reality star is ‘hopeful’ that positive changes will be made for the LGBT community.

“They already nominated Donald last night so I can’t get in the running but I can make a difference,” Jenner stated.

“I have to admit I’ve been very disappointed over the last 5-10 years but I won’t give up hope on it… The Democratic Party does a better job when it comes to the LGBT community, the trans community – all that kind of stuff and Obama actually has been very good from that standpoint.”

“I think the Republican Party needs to understand, they need to know people who are trans. It was easy to come out as trans, it was harder to come out as a Republican.”

Donald Trump recently announced that he believed “the state’s should decide” on their own bathroom laws and Republican Party has announced their new party platform which backs gay cure therapy and opposes equal marriage.
