Celine Dion has rescheduled some of her European tour dates after being diagnosed with a rare neurological condition.

In an emotional video on Thursday (8 December) the ‘To Love You More’ singer, 54, explains she had been diagnosed with a condition called Stiff Person Syndrome.

Celine says she hasn’t been ready to open up about the difficulties she’s experienced until now.

“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through,” she says.

After a brief pause, Celine explains she has recently been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, which affects around one in a million people.

“While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what’s been causing all the spasms that I’ve been having.” Celine takes a deep breath as she gathers herself.

A number of Celine’s North America and Las Vegas residency tour dates were cancelled earlier this year. Celine’s management has now confirmed is related to her condition.

Celine continues. “Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal chords to sing the way I’m used to.”

Distraught she says the condition means she won’t be ready to restart her tour in February. Celine assures fans she has a team of doctors helping her, as well as her children.

“But I have to admit, it’s been a struggle,” she goes on to say.

“All I know is singing. It’s what I’ve done all my life and it’s what I love to do the most,” Celine says. “I miss you so much, I miss all of you, being out on the stage performing for you. I always give 100 percent when I do my shows but my condition is not allowing me to give that to you right now.”

But she relents that for now, she has to focus on her health. Celine adds, “I have hope that I am on the road to recovery.”

Thanking fans for their support on social media Celine wishes her fans well. “I love you guys so much and I really hope I can see you again real soon.”

Celine’s management has confirmed the European tour is not cancelled entirely, just rescheduled to 2024, The Independent reports.
