Village People, Sophie Ellis-Bextor to headline new gay music festival on Hampstead Heath

Party on the Heath with Pride in London will take place at Kenwood House on 18 June.

Village People and Sophie Ellis-Bextor are set to headline a new gay music festival on Hampstead Heath to celebrate Pride in London this summer.

Party on the Heath with Pride in London will take place on the evening of Thursday 18 June, promising a “spectacular evening of inclusivity and diversity, and pop”.

Disco icons Village People, best known for ’70s hits including ‘YMCA’ and ‘In the Navy’, are set to headline the inaugural event outside famed stately home Kenwood House.

They’ll be joined on the line-up by pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who’ll perform a brand new show with drag collective Sink the Pink, as well as DJ Jodie Harsh, the London Gay Men’s Chorus, and the London Gay Big Band.

The festival, which forms part of the Heritage Live Concert Series, will raise money for LGBTQ causues, with donations from the event being made to the LGBT Foundation and MindOut.

Simon Jones, Director of Events at Pride in London, said: “We at Pride in London are delighted to be partnering with Party on the Heath, particularly as the event will be making donations to Mind Out and LGBT Foundation.

“Featuring amazing performers this event promises to be one of the best go to events for the summer.”

Pre-sale tickets for Party on the Heath with Pride in Lodon go on sale this Thursday 20 February at 9am, with general sale beginning on Friday 21 February at 9am.
