Russell T Davies, Divina De Campo and Pose’s Ryan Jamaal Swain lead rescheduled Turn On Fest
The Manchester-based LGBTQ performing arts festival takes place digitally from 17-27 March - and tickets are on sale now.

Russell T Davies, Divina De Campo and Ryan Jamaal Swain are three of the big names on the bill at this month’s newly-rescheduled Turn On Fest.
Drag Race UK star De Campo, It’s a Sin creator Davies and Pose star Swain will make appearances as part of the Manchester-based LGBTQ performing arts festival, which takes place digitally from 17-27 March.
The annual theatre festival – a partnership between Hope Mill Theatre and Superbia, Manchester Pride’s year-round programme of arts and culture – was originally set to take place in January before ongoing coronavirus restrictions led to the event being rescheduled and moving entirely online.
The good news is that Turn On Fest’s digital move means you’ll be able to tune in to enjoy an evening in conversation Russell T Davies hosted by legendary former Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh from wherever you are in the UK.
You’ll also be able to watch An Hour with Divina De Campo, which sees the Drag Race UK series one runner-up joined by a series of special guests.
Plus, An Evening with Ryan Jamaal Swain will see the star of Ryan Murhpy’s smash hit television series Pose discuss his career as a dancer and writer in an online discussion.
Other Turn On Fest highlights include Queer All About It, a screening of four short monologue films, discussion and conversation hosted by Manchester-based company Green Carnation Theatre.
As part of Turn On Fest, Hope Mill Theatre has also offered development grants worth £1000 to Manchester-based theatre-makers Maz Hedgehog, Suriya Aisha, Finley Letchford-Dobs and Emma Hinds.
Hope Mill Theatre’s Artistic Director Joseph Houston says of the event’s new digital look: “We started 2021 having to postpone Turn On Fest, which was deeply saddening for our venue and artists involved. However, along with the support of the companies, artists, partners and venue team we have managed to not only reschedule the festival but also create a fully online festival for our audiences.
“In these difficult times it’s important to continue to share stories, create opportunities and engage with audiences, but also in a safe and secure way, which means that at this time we don’t feel it is possible to plan for any live performances during the festival but we are thrilled we are still able to share the amazing line up with everyone.”
