Madonna to perform at World Pride in New York City
The pop icon will help celebrate 50 year since the Stonewall riots at Pride Island on 30 June.

Madonna has announced that that she’ll be performing at World Pride in New York City later this month, as the LGBTQ community celebrates 50 years since the Stonewall riots.
The Queen of Pop ended months of speculation that she’d be appearing at the world’s biggest Pride event in a video on social media on Monday (3 June), confirming she’s set to perform at Pride Island on Sunday 30 June.
“For once the rumours are true. Madame X is coming to Pride Island. June 30th,” Madonna wrote.
In a video which saw the ‘Like a Prayer’ singer wrapped in a rainbow Pride flag bearing the symbol of her upcoming album Madame X, she added: “I hear you. I will be on Pride Island, where I was born.”
The news comes after Madonna rang in 2019 with a surprise performance at the Stonewall Inn on New Year’s Eve, where she urged a shell-shocked crowd of 150 people to “never forget” the famous LGBTQ fightback at the venue which sparked the birth of the modern gay rights movement.
Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that Madonna will appear as a guest on The Graham Norton Show on 14 June to coincide with the release of Madame X.
World Pride’s Pride Island festival is to take place the last Saturday and Sunday in June, with legendary singer Grace Jones set to headline the event on Saturday ahead of Madonna’s eagerly-anticpated performance the following day.
Virgin Atlantic previously announced plans to fly the company’s first ever ‘Pride Flight’ staffed entirely by LGBTQ crew in honour of the weekend on 28 June.
Hosted by Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Tituss Burgess, the flight is set to take Pride-goers and LGBTQ stars directly to the event from London’s Heathrow, featuring special guests and live performances on board.
