Watch the first full trailer for Bridget Jones’s Baby

By Rhys Matthews

The trailer sees Bridget back to her old tricks again, torn between two men and getting into all sorts of awkward positions. It starts with Bridget walking down the aisle towards Mark Darcy, and then cuts to Bridget alone in her flat with a single cupcake in her hand and Celine Dion’s All By Myself in the background.

The trailer also shows Emma Thompson playing a Doctor who Bridget asks a ‘little favour’ of.

The sequel is set to be the third installment of the series, which will see Bridget pregnant, but unsure whether the father is Mark Qwant (played by Patrick Dempsey) or Mark Darcy (Colin Firth).

The film does not follow the storyline of the 2013 novel Mad About the Boy, which is set four years after the death of Mark Darcy and sees Bridget returning to the dating scene. But is instead loosely based on Helen Fielding’s columns she wrote for The Independent between 2005 and 2006.

The ending to Bridget Jones’s Baby, which will be released this September, is being kept completely secret, as even the cast don’t know who the father of the baby is, as three different endings have been shot to keep them guessing.

“None of the cast knows who fathered Bridget’s baby or who she’ll choose as her beau,” Zellweger has said. “The plan is to keep us all in the dark, right up to the premiere.”

Bridget Jones’s Baby is set to hit UK screens on September 16.
