Watch Lady Gaga’s epic performance at President Joe Biden’s inauguration

And just yards away from former Vice President Mike Pence? You love to see it.

Lady Gaga helped usher in a new era of US politics with an epic performance at the inauguration of President Joe Biden on Wednesday (20 January).

The pop superstar and LGBTQ icon stood just yards away from former US Vice President Mike Pence – who has consistently opposed LGBTQ equality during his time in office – as she delivered a rousing rendition of US national anthem ‘The Star Spangled Banner’.

Former US president Donald Trump, who departed from the White House for the last time earlier in the day, refused to attend Wednesday’s inaguration on the steps of the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. – the first outgoing president to do so in well over a century.

Posting on Instagram a day before the performance, Lady Gaga had shared a message of unity following a fractious period in US politics.

“I pray tomorrow will be a day of peace for all Americans”, wrote Gaga, 34.

“A day for love, not hatred. A day for acceptance not fear. A day for dreaming of our future joy as a country. A dream that is non-violent, a dream that provides safety for our souls.”
