Tulisa: ‘My gay best friend is the rock in my world’

By Sam Rigby

Attitude Magazine Awards, London, Britain - 13 Oct 2014

Tulisa has revealed that her gay best friend has been her “rock” over the last 12 months.

The Young singer said that she wouldn’t have been able to get through the last few months without Gareth Varey, who joined her at the Attitude Awards in London on Monday night (October 13).

Asked which gay man had stood out to her in 2014, she told attitude.co.uk: “I’d actually have to say my best friend and now day-to-day manager Gareth Varey. He is the rock in my world.”

Meanwhile, she also teased that fans can expect to hear her new single “very, very soon”.

“I’m doing some very exciting stuff. I’ve got music and a video to come very, very soon!” she said, confirming that the material will be released “way before” the end of the year.

The emerging gay icon also discussed a potential reunion with her N-Dubz bandmates Dappy and Fazer in 2015.

“With N-Dubz it could happen at any minute. It’s just going to be that moment when we all decide ‘okay, let’s do it’. At the moment, we’re all focused on our own things. After the year I’ve had, I have some stuff to finish off.

“After the ten years life experience I’ve fit into one year I just want to really come into my own. I feel I have come into my own as a person and as an artist, so I want to show that to the public and for them to get it like I now get myself,” she said.

For the third consecutive year Virgin Holidays were headline sponsors of the Attitude Awards, which also benefited the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Attitude would also like to thank other sponsors and supporters of the event including Sky, Renault, Marriott, M&S, Little Miracles, Naked Wines and Hip Hotels.
