Fathers-to-be Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black threw a “surprise” baby shower yesterday (April 21).

The diver and screenwriter, who announced they were having a baby via surrogate earlier this year, threw the secret party to celebrate as the child’s due date approaches.

Daley, 23, shared images of the party on Instagram, which feature the couple wearing “Oh Baby” gold glasses and “Daddy-to-be” sashes alongside the caption: “Surprise Baby Shower”.

A snap Dustin shared featured the couple embracing and posing in front of a huge table of food with the caption: “DADS to be #BabyShower”.

Other snaps showed rainbow-coloured cocktails and golden “Oh Baby” party plates covered in confetti. A video also showed Dustin holding two sparklers and dancing around the room.

Daley and Black’s baby announcement was hit with backlash and the couple have been forced to defend their decision to use a surrogate. Shortly after their announcement, a Daily Mail columnist penned a homophobic op-ed asking readers to “pass the sick bag”.

Just last week, Daley opened up about his impending fatherhood and hit back at critics, stating he “doesn’t care” what anyone says.
