‘The Normal Heart’s Matt Bomer wins at Golden Globes 2015

Matt Bomer was victorious at the 2015 Golden Globes on Sunday (January 11).
The actor won Best Supporting Actor in a TV Movie or Mini-series for his performance in HBO’s The Normal Heart.
Accepting his prize, he paid tribute to his director Ryan Murphy and writer of the original play, Larry Kramer.
“Ryan Murphy, thank you for believing me and trusting me with this role… Larry Kramer, thank you for your anger and passion.”
He also dedicated his award to those who have lost their lives to AIDS, as well as those who are still fighting it.
“We love you, we remember you,” he said.
Meanwhile, Amazon series Transparent fought off competition from Orange Is the New Black, Girls, Silicon Valley and Jane the Virgin to win Best Television Comedy or Musical.
Jeffrey Tambor won for his performance in the series, which sees him play a transgender woman – and father to three children – who comes out to his family.
The show’s writer, Jill Soloway, paid tribute to Leelah Alcorn – a transgender teen who recently took her own life – saying: “This award is dedicated to Leelah Alcorn and transgender people who died too young.”
In the movie categories, The Imitation Game walked away empty handed despite being nominated in five categories. Meanwhile, Pride didn’t take home the Golden Globe for Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, losing out to Michael Keaton’s Birdman.
