By Will Stroude

Teen horror movie The Craft is getting a modern-day remake.

Sony will re-make the 1996 cult classic with up-and-coming horror director Leigh Janiak at the helm, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Janiak – who is also set to direct an episode of MTV’s television adaptation of Scream – will co-write the script with Phil Graziadei, who she worked with on her breakthrough movie Honeymoon.

The original movie was a box office sleeper hit and starred Robin Tunney as the new girl at a Catholic high school who befriends three amateur witches, played by Rachel True, Fairuza Balk and 90’s scream queen Neve Campbell.

When the girls start using sorcery for their own gain, the short-lived coven begins to crumble as they start to murderously turn on their classmates and each other.

Original producer Doug Wick is also returning for the remake, and while no further details or casting announcements have been made, it’s safe to say we can’t wait to see where this goes.
