Taylor Swift has teamed up with Andrew Lloyd Webber for a brand-new song to be featured in the upcoming Cats movie.

The singer is set to star as Bombalurina in Tom Hooper’s CGI/live-action reimagining of the classic Lloyd Webber musical, which is set to hit UK screens this December.

And while the fan favourite songs from the musical will appear, including the operatic ballad ‘Memory’, Swift has also used her songwriting talents for a brand-new song, ‘Beautiful Ghosts’.

Now, in a new featurette released by Universal, a short snippet of the new song can be heard and we cannot wait to hear it in full.

While speaking alongside Hooper and Webber, Swift said: “T.S. Eliot is such a specific type of writer and uses such specific language [and] imagery, and so reading through his work and everything, I just really wanted to reflect that.

“You can’t write a modern lyric for Cats. So if you can’t get T.S. Eliot, you get T.S.”

Swift’s new song – which she has recorded her own studio version – will be sung in the film by the white cat known as Victoria, played by dancer Francesca Hayward.

The film – which is based on the musical inspired by the T.S. Eliot book – stars the likes of Dame Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, James Corden, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Derulo and Rebel Wilson.
