Tom Daley is to embark on a “whistle-stop backpacking trip” for a new ITV2 show.

The Olympic bronze medallist and his best friend Sophie Lee (pictured right) will travel to countries including Thailand, Japan, Australia, Morocco and New Zealand for Tom Daley Goes Global.

During the six-week backpacking trip, Daley will tick off items from his “bucket list”, including bungee-jumping and flying a jet-plane. He will also hook up with one of his well-known friends, Mollie King from The Saturdays.

Daley said in a statement: “I can’t wait to get away on my trip. Diving and training are my first love, but I am looking forward to a break from the norm and discovering more about places I’ve never had the chance to explore before. And to do it all with my best friend will be amazing.”

ITV’s Angela Jain added: œ”Tom’s career as a diver has captivated the nation – we hope this show will give people the chance to see the teenager behind the trunks as he enjoys his global back-packing adventure.”

Tom Daley Goes Global is expected to air on ITV2 later this year (2014).
