Simon Webbe is to compete on the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The Blue singer and former Attitude cover star is the second male celebrity to be confirmed for the new series, which will begin next month (September) on BBC One.

“I am so happy to be joining the team and I cannot wait to get started,” said Webbe, who previously appeared on the show’s 2011 Christmas Special.

“I’m hopeful that Strictly Come Dancing will help me improve on my daddy dancing skills. I want to make my daughter proud and no doubt she will be teaching me a pirouette or two along the way,” he added.

Webbe joins four other celebrities already confirmed for the new series: recent Attitude cover star Thom EvansThe Saturdays’ Frankie Bridge, Andy Murray’s mum Judy Murray and This Morning’s Alison Hammond.

Ten further celebrities will be announced before the contest gets started next month – and according to a recent report, so-called “old duffers” have been banned. Read more here.
