Shock as Eastenders kills off Ben Mitchell’s boyfriend Paul Coker in dramatic twist – WATCH

By Will Stroude

EastEnders

shocked viewers last night (July 18) when it was revealed that Ben Mitchell’s boyfriend Paul Coker had died following a tragic incident.

Last week the show teased fans by revealing images that suggested Ben (Harry Reid) had passed away. But in last night’s episode the mix up became clear when Ben’s half-brother Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and father Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) went to identify what they thought was Ben’s body, only to find Paul (Jonny Labey) there instead.

The events surrounding the character’s death are still to be revealed, and with Ben still missing, there could still be more shocks to come for the Mitchell family.

Speaking about his character’s death and the following fallout to Digital Spy, Labey said: “It’s incredible to have a week dedicated to your character. A lot of the really emotional stuff happens after I leave.

“It was quite strange because Lin and Roger were filming a lot of the reactive parts and then coming back to film all the upbeat stuff with me. It was quite odd! But watching Lin and Roger do their scenes was really hard.”

Fans of the show took to Twitter to vent their sadness and pay tribute to the character, who had been in the show for just over a year.
