By Josh Lee

’80s pop icon and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Samantha Fox spoke candidly about coming out on today’s Loose Women.

The singer came out in 2003, revealing at the time that she was in a relationship with Myra Stratton, who recently passed way.

For a long time, Fox refused to speak about her sexuality, fearing she’d alienate fans: “I said I don’t believe in labels,” she explained. “For a long time I was a bit scared, because I did feel maybe – I’ve got of male fans and female fans too – and I was scared I would lose that fanbase.”

When asked if she thought coming out would have been bad for business, she simply replied: “Yes.”

The singer and model then spoke directly to other women who were struggling to come out. She said: “I’d say to any woman watching, don’t be scared. Love is a great thing and you have to live for today.

“Be true to yourself.”
