Ryan Murphy has released the official title sequence for American Horror Story: 1984 and we cannot wait for it to begin.

The upcoming ninth season of the hit anthology series is set to start airing on September 18 and over the last couple of months we have received small details about the plot.

We know the cast includes Emma Roberts, Cody Fern and Billie Lourd, as well as newcomers Gus Kenworthy and Angelica Ross.

We know the series is a direct homage to 1980s slasher films including Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Halloween.

And we know that the villain of the series will be known as Mr Jingles – plus Billie Lourd recently teased it is the ‘scariest’ yet.

And now, series creator has revealed the title sequence for the new series and wrote on Instagram: “I am so excited to share with you the new AMERICAN HORROR STORY title sequence by our longtime collaborator Kyle Cooper and our new friend Corey Vega, who ignited this concept with an original “fan” cut he posted on Twitter after the 1984 season was announced.

“I liked it so much, I decided to bring him on board to work together with Kyle as they evolved the concept into something major. Congratulations Corey! 1980s horror never looked so good. @broadway1228”

American Horror Story: 1984 premieres on 18 September on FX in the US and on 19 September on Fox in the UK.
