RuPaul is set to make herstory this weekend as the first ever drag perfomer to host iconic US variety show Saturday Night Live and if the first trailer is anything to go by, Mama’s not gonna let us down.
A newly-release promo for upcoming episode, which will also see an appearance from ‘Yummy’ singer Justin Bieber – sees Ru meeting SNL star (and former Drag Race All Stars 4 guest judge) Cecily Strong meeting backstage at NBC studios.
A giddy, star-struck Strong pretty much just stops short of saying “I’m gagging for you f****t” asshe gushes over the drag legend, before being invited to sissy that walk to towards the stage and promptly brough abck down to Earth by co-star Beck Bennett.
2020 already looks set to be RuPaul’s busiest year yet, even without his eagerly-anticipated SNL hosting debut: The Emmy Award-winning presenter’s first scripted comedy series, AJ and the Queen, arrived on Netflix last month, and the former Attitude cover star gifted fans with the surprise-release of 13th album You’re a Winner, Baby the same week.
With season 12 of Drag Race, All Stars 5, RuPaul’s Celebrity Drag Race and season two of Drag Race UK all set to air this year too, there’s more evidence than ever that while the Devil works hard, RuPaul works harder.
RuPaul hosts SNL on Saturday 8 February at 11:30 pm ET on NBC in the US.
