Ricky Martin: ‘I wish I could come out as gay again’

Ricky Martin has said that he wishes he could come out for a second time.

The Puerto Rican singer, 42, came out four years ago in 2010 after years of speculation in the media about his sexuality.

“It felt amazing. I wish I could come out again because that moment felt very blissful,” the singer told US radio station KIISS-FM.

He continued: “It really feels amazing and then when it happens you realise all your fears were in your head. The amount of support I received… from the media, obviously my fans and my family was amazing. Unfortunately, society just pushes us to believe that our feelings are evil.”

He went on to explain that his two children were the main reason behind his decision to come out, saying: “When I held them in my arms for the first time… it’s about honesty and transparency and I want my kids to grow up in an open household where they don’t have to lie about their daddy,” he said.

In April, Martin  debuted the video for his new track Vida, which will be released to coincide with this year’s World Cup in Brazil, and will feature on the Official FIFA World Cup 2014 album, alongside tracks from Shakira and Pitbull featuring Jennifer Lopez.
