Renée Zellweger teases ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ as plot details revealed

By Will Stroude

With filming already well underway in London, our excitement for Bridget Jones’s third big screen outing is getting off the scale as we find out more about what’s in store for the Britain’s most famous former singleton.

Thankfully, a new cover profile with Entertainment Weekly is giving us everything to know about the eagerly-anticipated follow-up to 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason – namely that it will follow a 43-year-old Bridget as she juggles pregnancy with the uncertainty of whether the father is on-off boyfriend Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) or hunky billionaire series newcomer, Mark Qwant (Patrick Dempsey).

“This is part of the new challenge, discovering where she is now in her new life. But as an actress, it feels like stepping back with an old friend,” Zellweger tells EW.

“I love this character, I like that she tells stories about what it’s like to be a woman and these really relatable situations at certain times in life. It’s so right to tell a story about Bridget in this stage of her life.”

The new issue of Entertainment Weekly also features interviews with Firth and Dempsey, and reveals which much-loved characters from the first two films will be making a return to the series (hopefully ALL of them).

Meanwhile, love-able pop strummer Ed Sheeran recently shared a behind-the-scenes picture from the movie’s set after landing his very own speaking role – click here to find out more.

Bridget Jones’s Baby is expected to hit cinemas in both the US and UK on September 16, 2016.
