Pleasurehood at London’s XOYO is your Saturday night destination

In partnership with XOYO

By Steve Brown

XOYO is one of London’s most well-respected clubs and features countless LGBTQ DJs each and every weekend.

Situated in the heart of London’s Shoreditch, the two-floor club delivers an unrivalled weekend soundtrack to the capital and features global names alongside some of the best trailblazing artists on the circuit.

The clubs signature night, ‘Pleasurehood’, plays host to a schedule of huge DJs every Saturday night which encapsulate the sounds they adore with a special focus on the melodic side of house, disco and techno.

The very best in house and disco with prices starting at £5. The dancefloor always comes first. This is not a super club. This is a party.

Some of the queer underground talent on rotation each week including DJs Joshua James, Hifi Sean, Cimmerii  Eliza Rose, Luke Solomon plus our troupe of dancers led by the infamous transgender icon and inspiration Lucy Fizz.

Find out more about some of the DJs below:

Josh James

It’s been nearly 2 years since Joshua James was asked to take over and begin a weekly residency at London’s XOYO, playing all night long in the clubs Room 2.

He has been a mainstay at XOYO for the last 4 years, starting with the clubs monthly Gloria’s party.

It was after late 2017 when Josh began playing in Room 2 all night long for The Black Madonna’s I Still Believe residency.

Alongside this Joshua has remixed the likes of Beth Ditto, London Grammar, Joe Goddard, KDA, Boxed In, Babe, The Very Best and Nimmo.

Watch Joshua talk about Pleasurehood below:

Hifi Sean

Hifi Sean is a DJ, Producer and Songwriter, currently known for his album ‘FT’, which he describes as ‘electronic, psychedelic soul’.

In addition to writing and producing his own solo album, Sean has been passionately dedicated to his DJ sets (which include many self produced tracks) holding down residencies and guest appearances at Shoreditch House, East Bloc, Dalston Superstore, Savage, Q-Lab Milan and most recently at Ministry of Sound.

Cimmerii

Founder of the label Universe Language Records, Coco Cole debuts her artist alias Cimmerii as one of the new residents for Pleasurehood at XOYO.

With 10 years’ experience; as national radio broadcaster, promoter, resident DJ of Ibiza’s Pacha, a staple in the London queer scene and now label head; Coco is well equipped to take over XOYO two Saturdays a month.

Luke Solomon

Undeniably one of British house music’s unsung heroes, with an impressive track record of underground success.

No one could debate Luke Solomon’s dance music credentials. From setting up the seminal label Classic Recordings with Derrick Carter to taking quirky house to the UK Top 10 and international charts, with his band Freaks, to DJing around the globe and performing live, Luke has been there for many of the more interesting 4/4 moments of the last decade.

Eliza Rose

A resident on London’s Rinse FM and at The Jazz Cafe, London, Eliza Rose’s 10 year education working in her local record store Flashback, makes her more qualified than most to step in the booth.

Taking inspiration from her music influences, Eliza Rose channels Billie Holiday, Al Green and The Supremes into her sets with dusty house grooves, hypnotic funk and smile inducing disco.

Her give it a go attitude shines in her energetic sets, always evolving and open to new adventures. Eliza will be broadening her musical palette this year and working on some vocal collaborations and writing & producing her own original material.

She’s also part of the fast rising Rhythm Sister collective, Eliza Rose is one to watch.
