Patsy Palmer has decided to quit her role as Bianca Palmer on EastEnders.

The 41-year-old actress will leave the BBC soap this autumn, having played the feisty redhead on-and-off for over two decades.

Discussing Palmer’s exit, the show’s executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins confirmed that Bianca won’t be killed off, saying: “We are so sad that Patsy has decided to leave us, but completely understand that it’s the right time for her.

“Bianca won’t be leaving Albert Square until the autumn, so there’s still a lot more to come from her on screen this year – and the door will be left wide open for her return.”

He added: “We won’t be getting rid of Bianca’s puffa jacket just yet.”

The actress first played Bianca from 1993 to 1999, then made another brief appearance in 2002, before fully returning to the role in 2008.

Palmer is reportedly planning to move to L.A to pursue career opportunities in Hollywood after shooting her final scenes on the much-loved BBC soap.
