Parry Glasspool teases future trouble for Hollyoaks’ Harry and Ste

By Will Stroude

With gay relationships are common as catfights in soapland these days, we’d be lying if we didn’t say that Hollyoaks‘ Ste (Kieron Richardson) and Harry (Parry Glasspool) wasn’t one of our favourite.

Now Parry – who gave us another eyeful this week after getting totally naked with some of his Hollyoaks castmates for a festive-themed photo shoot – has spoken to Digitalspy about what 2016 holds for the on-off couple, and it looks like there’s trouble ahead for everyone’s favourite tea-time twinks.

Hollyoaks’ Christmas Day episode will see Harry get a surprise as he’s accepted onto a football scholarship programme in California, leaving hope of a reunion with his former flame looking unlikely.

As Harry wonders whether he could really leave Ste however, things are complicated even further when Ste’s ex-husband, John Paul, also begins to harbour hopes of getting back together with the chef.

Speaking about the upcoming love triangle, Parry says: “I think Ste is always on Harry’s mind. When he gets the scholarship, he’s definitely torn between the two. This course is amazing and it’s the biggest thing in his life so far. It’s career-making stuff.

“But obviously Harry is still a teenager, so he’s still a little lovestruck boy. It’s one of those things where you want to shake him and say, ‘Forget about guys for just one second and think about your life!”

But who does the 23-year-old think is a better fit for Ste in the long term, Harry or John Paul?

“I think there’s pluses to both Harry and John Paul. John Paul might be the healthier option. This is Harry’s first openly gay relationship and there’s going to be a lot more drama with him”.

“I’d obviously say that Ste should go for Harry, but I think it’ll split the viewers. Harry’s feelings for Ste are growing, though. You saw that when Harry came to the hospital to see Ste after he was sleeping rough. He was really upset, and it’s moments like that when you realise how much you care for someone.

“I think it’s definitely more love than lust by this point.”

Well, here’s to 2016 – and even more Parry on our screens please…

Meanwhile, Hollyoaks’ executive producer Bryan Kirkwood recently admitted he’s been facing a bit of a backlash for making the show ‘too gay’, so we decided to take a look at the picture evidence – click here to check it out.

Hollyoaks airs an hour-long Christmas special tonight (December 24) at 6pm on Channel 4.
