Rising country star Orville Peck has released the flower-strewn video for his new track ‘Summertime’, and it’s giving us all the feels as we wallow in self-isolation self-pity.

The enigmatic masked singer – who opens up about his trailblazing place on the country music scene alongside producer Diplo in Attitude’s May issue – out now to download and to order globally – and rose to fame last year with the release of his debut album Pony.

The new track – his first since signing to Columbia Records – swoons with heavy guitar strums and Orville’s rich, deep voice full of nostalgic longing.

“I wrote this song a long time ago and to me, ‘Summertime’ has a few different meanings,” Peck says.

“Summertime can be a season, a person, or a memory of a happier time that can be difficult to visit.

“We also wanted the video to focus around the idea of how we treat nature.

“Ultimately this is a song about biding your time and staying hopeful – even if it means missing something or someone.”

In their Attitude cover interview, Orville and Diplo discuss the inherent queerness of country music, masculinity in a modern age and their upcoming musical collaboration together on Diplo’s first mainstream label album, set to be released under his real name, Thomas Wesley Pentz.

Orville is set to open Harry Styles’ Halloween shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden in the autumn, as well as performing at both Coachella weekends which have been rescheduled to October due to the coronavirus pandemic.
