Olly Alexander and Neil Milan mark National Coming Out Day amid split reports

By Will Stroude

Olly Alexander and Neil Milan have spent the summer as pop’s hottest pairing, gradually opening up about their adorable relationship as their stars have risen throughout 2015 – but if the latest tabloid reports are to believed, ‘Olly and Neil: the couple’ is currently on hiatus.

The Years & Years frontman and Clean Bandit violinist marked National Coming Out Day yesterday as rumours began circulating that the pair have taken a break after their hectic touring schedules put an unbearable strain on the relationship.

A source told The Mirror: “Neil is a bit gutted but is hanging out with friends. The couple definitely still have feelings for each other but both think they are too young to deal with the pressure. Instead, they’re enjoying being single pop stars.”

Neil previously admitted that the pair’s hectic careers was making it increasingly hard to spend time together, but added that they made the most of the romantic opportunities they do get – as fans got to see for themselves when the two 25-year-olds shared a passionate kiss onstage after their tours crossed paths in the States last month.

Olly and Neil are yet to comment on the reports, so one can only hope it’s the tabloid rumour mill at work once again. Proving that they’re gay role models together or apart, the pair were quick to mark National Coming Out Day yesterday with some inspiring words for their young gay fans.

“in honour of national coming out day I’ve come out inspired by Michael Jordan from one of my fav movies space jam”, Olly wrote on Instagram. “coming out is a very personal thing, so you do it your way, whatever way that is, in your own time. just remember it’s good to talk, talk to your friends, talk to your parents, talk to your busted up 90’s space-jam VHS.

“most importantly never ever be ashamed of who you are, because who you are is fucking awesome, don’t let anybody make you think differently.”

Meanwhile Neil took to Twitter, writing: “#NationalComingOutDay can mean anything u want it 2, u can do it whenevr u like but telling sOMEone something feels gooood.

“U R NOT ALONE”.

Whatever’s happening between these two, let’s hope they two don’t spend too much time alone either.
