Nick Robinson said he hopes Love, Simon will help people while accepting the Teen Choice Award.

The actor starred as the titular character in the LGBT+ teen romance and during the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday (August 12), the film won the award for best comedy – as well as Robinson taking home the Choice Breakout Movie Star.

During the acceptance speech, where he was joined on stage by his co-stars, Robinson revealed he hopes the movie will have a positive impact on those who watch it.

He said: “Wow, thank you, thank you guys so much. This is amazing. It means so much to all of us.

“Just wanna say thank you to everyone who voted, everyone who made this film what it was. Just want to say thank you to our director Greg Berlanti and everyone involved in this, everyone standing here tonight.

“This is a labour of love and this is a story that we hope will help some people.”
