Nick Jonas: ‘More straight artists should stand up for gay marriage’

By Josh Haggis

Nick Jonas has argued that more straight celebrities need to speak out in support of same-sex marriage.

The former Disney Star, who recently stated that the LGBT community has “always been important to him,” discusses marriage equality in a new interview just months ahead of the US Supreme Court’s landmark ruling that could legalise same-sex marriage nationwide.

Jonas argues that straight celebrities could be integral in swaying public opinion on same-sex marriage, suggesting that more need to find the courage to speak out in favour of equality publicly.

“Everyone should have the right to love and marry whomever he wants,” the former Attitude cover star told French magazine Tetu. “And the more there are straight artists who defend these ideas, the more they will be admitted.”

Meanwhile, Jonas – whose new single Jealous is out in the UK on March 30 – recently posed for a cover shoot with Attitude: check out an exclusive behind the scenes video here.
